It's like I'm forcing vinegar down her throat...when in fact it's banana antibiotics. She screams bloody murder, and she always tries to hold in her cheeks then spews it out.

Does anyone have any good medicine giving tips? I could REALLY use them .... right about now. We use the syringe method as she wouldn't dream of taking it from a cup.

Gimme your best methods....please.

I don't suppose your pharmacy does the thing where they make the medicine into a lollipop? I've never tried it, but it looks like it would help.

There could be a bitter after taste.. Septra is nasty for that.. maybe why she isnt liking it.

I agree with the other post... maybe make it an icey thing.. a pop or a cube...

But another thought.. she might be old enough... needs some control on taking the icky... under your eye, let her pour and take on her own.... it'll give her a sense of some control :)

One thing I've done is mix the meds in someething that is well-liked such as fruit yogurt or applesauce. It has worked at our home, maybe it will work at yours!

I just yell at them until they swallow. How's that?
Seriously, I did use the syringe method. And then I'd let them pour their drink of choice to down immediately after swallowing the medicine. I also recommended they hold their nose, cause that affects the taste buds when you can't smell, but that didn't always work with antibiotics. Good luck to you. I feel for you...

Hey girl. UUMMM yeah sometimes not an easy task. But, we give them the option of a syringe or med cup, then ask them what they want to wash it down, we tell them to drink it real fast, works for us...or then we start to yell, and say well fine then stay sick..then they take it.

Yep. Follow it up with a shot of pancake syrup. Works like a charm on Jr.
